Tori Autot
Tori.fi is Finland's most popular online marketplace, visited by millions of Finns every month, with almost 20,000 transactions completed every day. In 2020, the owner Schibsted decided to break its car marketplace away into a separate, dedicated product: Tori Autot
Technologies used: React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, Jest, Cypress E2E Testing, AB Testing
The new site went live within a year of the work commencing. Its development was executed iteratively, with the process characterised by fast release cycles. A data-driven approach was employed, with A/B testing used extensively.
To strengthen the Schibsted team, Lucky Few together with Futurice was hired to make use of certain senior-level skills to boost front-end’s back-end development. These included expertise in next.js – a full-stack front-end framework for React – as well as the use of E2E (end-to-end) testing, which essentially automates user-interface testing in an actual browser environment.
We had great help from the Lucky Few consultants throughout this project. With high technical expertise and aligned with Schibsted values, they helped deliver next-level results.
- David Gill, CPO Marketplaces Finland, Schibsted
The Tori Autot team introduced modern development concepts and technologies when relevant, such as a micro-frontend structure deployed to improve frontend performance using multiple distinct apps – each with their own unique characteristics and needs. Lucky Few also took the opportunity to share best practices wherever possible, introducing a monrepo development strategy to allow other teams to efficiently work on the same product.
Tori Autot has performed very well since launch. Over 60,000 cars are currently listed for sale on the site, which attracts 670,000 unique visitors each month.
